Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the National Police (Polri) will soon compile short-, medium-, and long-term strategies to follow up on all proposals and recommendations from the Commission for Accelerating Police Reform (KPRP).

The KPRP’s proposals and recommendations, packaged in a 10-volume book totalling 3,500 pages, were handed over and reported directly to President Prabowo Subianto at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday.

“Regarding governance issues as well, we have already outlined which ones fall under short-, medium-, and long-term grand strategies. In principle, Polri welcomes the results of the recommendations from the Police Reform Commission and will promptly follow them up,” said the Police Chief during a press conference at Merdeka Palace after he and the Commission for Accelerating Police Reform met with President Prabowo.

On the same occasion, the Police Chief also responded to the KPRP’s proposal regarding restrictions on police officers’ positions outside the Polri institution.

Listyo stated that Polri will soon coordinate the proposal with relevant ministries.

“Placements (of police officers, ed.) outside the structure, we will soon hold a meeting with the ministers and Coordinating Minister (for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Services, ed.) for Legal Affairs,” said Listyo.

Furthermore, Listyo conveyed Polri’s stance on strengthening the National Police Commission (Kompolnas).

“Strengthening Kompolnas is certainly part of what we will promptly implement,” said Listyo Sigit.

It is known that President Prabowo received a report on the results of the Commission for Accelerating Police Reform’s work, led by former Constitutional Court Chief Justice Jimly Asshiddiqie, at Merdeka Palace on Tuesday.

In that meeting, eight out of ten KPRP members were present, namely Jimly as chairman doubling as a member, then Presidential Special Advisor for Security and Police Reform Ahmad Dofiri as a member, Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Services Yusril Ihza Mahendra as a member.

Then, Deputy Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Services Otto Hasibuan as a member, Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas as a member, former Constitutional Court Chief and ex-Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD as a member, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit as a member, and former National Police Chief (retired) General Idham Aziz as a member.
