Palembang — South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho has assured that his personnel are cohesive and combat-ready for the implementation of security operations during Operation Ketupat 2026.

This assurance was given as Sandi conducted simultaneous inspections of security checkpoints, distributed goodwill tokens, and distributed iftar meals at various strategic locations across the province.

Centred at the Junction 5 checkpoint on Jalan Kapten A. Rivai near the Provincial Legislative Assembly Building, this activity served as the central command hub for similar operations conducted by all territorial units across South Sumatra to ensure full preparedness.

Sandi emphasised that the activity involving 39 combined personnel at the site (Indonesian National Police, military, transportation department, civil police, health service, and community radio operators) represented integrated security operations. The primary focus is ensuring rapid response capability and the fitness of patrol infrastructure throughout all levels.

In his directive, Sandi stressed the importance of unified action across all jurisdictions under the South Sumatra Police Regional Command.

“Today we are moving simultaneously across all our ranks to ensure there are no gaps in public security. This checkpoint inspection is evidence that all personnel, from administrative staff to patrol vehicles, are in combat-ready condition to provide rapid response in every corner of South Sumatra,” Sandi stated.

The presence of Bhayangkari club officials accompanying senior officials added a distinctive dimension. Operational firmness in the field was enhanced through a humanitarian touch by distributing goodwill tokens to deployed personnel, demonstrating leadership by example.

Additionally, the distribution of iftar meals to road users was implemented as a cooling system strategy to ease tensions whilst educating the public about traffic discipline in a persuasive manner.

“This coordinated activity also carries a humanitarian mission. We want to show that behind these uniforms, the police remain committed to family values. This coordinated iftar distribution is our way of addressing the community with humanity, whilst easing tensions (cooling system) to maintain conducive and warm law and order conditions,” he added.

This coordinated action demonstrates that the South Sumatra Police Command is not only strong managerially, but also solid in maintaining personnel morale in the field through genuine appreciation and closeness with the community.
