Depok - The Indonesian National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, has instructed the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) to continuously study global developments, including geopolitical and geo-economic dynamics, in order to anticipate their impacts on domestic security.

Sigit conveyed this during the roll call and briefing he led at the Technical Work Meeting (Rakernis) of the Polri Brimob Corps at the Brimob Headquarters in Kelapa Dua, Depok, West Java, on Tuesday (21/4/2026).

“Of course, I am very confident that you, as the special force of the Polri, as the core strength in facing escalations of high-level threats to public security and order, will become one of the reliable teams when the situation truly requires your presence,” said the Police Chief in his address on Tuesday.

He spotlighted the conflict in the Middle East, particularly between Israel and Iran, which he assessed as having the potential to widen and impact global stability.

The conflict, he said, not only causes loss of life but also disrupts the global energy sector.

Sigit cited attacks on Saudi Aramco oil facilities and disruptions in the strategic Strait of Hormuz shipping lane, through which about 20 percent of global energy distribution passes.

“If the Strait of Hormuz continues to experience disruptions, oil prices could keep rising. A while ago, we already exceeded 100 USD per barrel, and if this continues, it could reach 200 USD per barrel,” he explained.

The subsequent impact of that situation is the potential increase in disruptions to public security and order (kamtibmas).

Therefore, Sigit emphasised the importance of Brimob personnel’s preparedness through training, simulations, and understanding of field conditions.

“Therefore, we all must always be ready, we all must always be vigilant, we all must prepare ourselves to continue training to face all kinds of dynamics that may occur,” he said.
