Police chief a celebrity?
Police chief a celebrity?
From Rakyat Merdeka
As a common man longing for justice and law enforcement, I am often intrigued by the conduct displayed by government officials. Demonstrations still mark our days: people are protesting the political elite, members of which are busily jostling for top positions, and the continuing corrupt, collusive and nepotistic practices, including those that prevail in the police headquarters.
Recently RCTI broadcast its Check and Recheck program, in which the National Police Chief Lt. Gen. Rusdihardjo and his wife were interviewed as a celebrity couple. There is nothing wrong if the police chief is interviewed on such a program. However, it is not an appropriate time for him to be interviewed as a celebrity, considering the huge tasks that have to be shouldered and the many problems that have to be addressed. He did not show even the slightest sense of the crisis which is still hitting the country. He also showed off the sports facilities at his official residence. I wonder if poor people have ever seen such facilities before.
He never fails to talk about his love story with his wife. In every interview he always puts on expensive clothes. I think it would be wise for the police chief if such a show was postponed until the situation was more favorable.
I hope that the country's political elite are sensitive to what is going on in our country.
