Police chase ends in toll road crash

BEKASI: A suspected car thief was arrested on Friday morning after the stolen Kijang minivan he was driving overturned during a high-speed chase on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road.

The suspect, identified as Satori, suffered a mild concussion in the accident, Tempointeraktif news portal reported.

Satori has two valid identity cards issued by the Jakarta and Brebes, Central Java, administrations.

Police said they had to fire two warning shots before the suspect gave himself up.

The stolen Kijang belongs to Sri Rahayu, a resident of the Jomin Estate housing complex in Cikampek. Sri uses the vehicle to drive and pick up children from school.

The minivan was stolen while parked in front of a school at about 7 a.m. -- JP
