Police catch snatchers
YOGYAKARTA: Police yesterday caught two "big time" bag snatchers barely twenty minutes after they carried out their latest grab and run action in the street.
Their latest, and probably last victim for sometime, was Mrs. Tunojo, a resident of Surabaya, East Java. Police found her bag containing Rp 200,000 in cash, as well as other possession, on the snatchers. They also seized a sickle from them.
Second Sergeant Saryadi, who was alerted to the motorcycle riding snatchers, gave chase single-handedly on his motorcycle for about six kilometers.
The chase came to a sudden end when the snatchers came to a dead end in Jl. Magelang and plunged into the Mataram River, Antara reported. (emb)
