Police forces across multiple regions have responded swiftly to reports of criminal activity and public disturbances, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. From Jambi to West Java, enforcement operations have been conducted to ensure the security and public order remain stable.

In Batang Hari Regency, Jambi, officers from Muara Tembesi Police Station, under Batang Hari Police District, arrested two men for motorcycle robbery using a scheme involving impersonation of intelligence officers.

The Chief of Muara Tembesi Police Station, Iptu Sugeng, explained that the two suspects stopped victims on the road by claiming to be pursuing drug traffickers. To convince their victims, they displayed objects resembling firearms. After stopping the victims, the perpetrators requested to borrow motorcycles and mobile phones for police operations, then fled with the items.

The incident occurred on Tuesday 24 February in the early morning at Dusun Sungai Rumbai, Sungai Pulai Village, Muara Tembesi Sub-district. When the victim realised he had been deceived, he immediately reported the matter to police. Based on community information and investigation results, officers apprehended both suspects at Muara Tembesi Market on Thursday 26 February.

Police confiscated a pistol-shaped lighter used to intimidate the victim and the victim’s motorcycle as evidence from the suspects. Both are now undergoing further legal proceedings.

Iptu Sugeng stressed that the modus operandi of impersonating law enforcement is deeply concerning as it undermines public trust in the police institution. He urged citizens not to readily trust anyone claiming to be a police officer without presenting an official membership identity card (KTA), and to immediately report any suspicious activity.

Meanwhile, in West Java, the Garut Police District conducted enforcement operations against illegal street racing activities that had been disturbing residents in the Pasirwangi area, Garut Regency.

The Chief of Pasirwangi Police Station, Iptu Wahyono Aji, stated that officers received reports from the public regarding illegal street racing activities in the Padaasih area, Pasirwangi Sub-district, on Saturday morning. Several personnel were deployed to the location and successfully dispersed the activity.
