Police Bust Clandestine Laboratory Producing Narcotic-Infused Vape Cartridges in West Jakarta Boarding Room

The Narcotics Directorate of the Metro Jaya Police Criminal Investigation Unit has uncovered a clandestine laboratory producing illegal vape cartridges containing the class II narcotic etomidate in the Tamansari area of West Jakarta. “In the bust, we secured one suspect with the initials S (38) around 7:30 PM,” said the Head of Sub-Directorate 1 of the Metro Jaya Police Narcotics Directorate, Commissioner Police Indah Hartantiningrum, in Jakarta on Sunday (3/5/2026). Following up on the information, the Metro Jaya Police Narcotics Directorate immediately conducted an investigation and raid at the location. “During the search of the boarding room, we found several pieces of evidence including 34 ready-to-sell cartridges, 49 used refilled cartridges, 550 empty packages of various brands, one bottle of etomidate base liquid, six bottles of mixed liquid, as well as production tools such as an electric pot, containers, syringes, measuring glasses, and a press,” she stated. The suspect and evidence have been taken to the Metro Jaya Police Narcotics Directorate for further examination. Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Police Budi Hermanto, stated that eradicating narcotics is a collective responsibility. He also urged the public to report any potential disturbances to public security and order (kamtibmas) via the National Police Call Center 110, which operates 24 hours.
