Police break NGOs meeting

SURAKARTA: A meeting of 15 non-governmental organizations at
the headquarters of the Yaphi Foundation was dispersed by police
on Wednesday because it did not have authorities permission.

Agus Dodi of the Gita Pertiwi organization said the meeting
mainly discussed the government's plan to issue a decree
regulating the activities of NGOs.

Police came and broke up the meeting one hour after it began
and took two organizers, Theo Wahyu and Harsono, for questioning.
Both men were released after two hours. (har/pwn)
