JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The House of Representatives (DPR RI) has established a Working Committee (Panja) to revise the Police Law (RUU Polri).

The formation of the Panja for the Police Law revision marks the imminent discussion of amendments to the Police Law.

Several new regulatory points in the Police Law revision have emerged, including clearer and more measurable adjustments to the police retirement age based on organisational needs.

Officers with specialised skills critical to police duties may remain in service until age 60.

DPR Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad stated that extending the police retirement age aims to ensure equality among law enforcement personnel.

He noted that the retirement age for the Attorney General’s Office and TNI had already been increased previously.

“Colleagues believe it is appropriate to propose an extension to avoid significant disparities in retirement ages,” he added.
