Police: BGN Office Window Shattered Due to Hot Weather

A glass panel at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) building in Central Jakarta shattered, prompting a visit from the police’s Inafis unit. Authorities suspect the breakage was caused by the hot weather. “The glass panel at the BGN building shattered. It is suspected that the hot outside temperature combined with the indoor air conditioning caused expansion, which resulted in the glass breaking,” said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Reynold EP Hutagalung on Thursday (9/7/2026). Reynold explained that his team had inspected the location. According to the building manager, the glass panels frequently break during hot weather. “The building manager, Martin, stated that the glass can shatter once or twice a year during the hot or dry season,” he said. Observation at the location on Thursday (9/7) at 14:36 WIB showed the front glass of the BGN building was broken. Shards of glass were scattered across the front yard. Black and yellow police line was seen cordoning off the area. An Inafis vehicle was also present at the BGN building. Several police officers were observed processing the crime scene. Other officers were seen guarding the front of the BGN building.
