Police Ban Sharing of Video Showing Three Men's Torture in TTU
Police have banned residents from sharing a video showing the torture of three men identified as PS, RT, and AT in Timor Tengah Utara (TTU), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The three men were tied up and dragged along the road in Fafinesu B Village, Insana Fafinesu Subdistrict, TTU, by locals.
“I urge media colleagues and the public not to share photos or videos related to the incident in Fafinesu,” said TTU Police Chief AKBP Eliana Papote to detikBali on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
Eliana explained that the ban on sharing photos and videos is to prevent increased public anxiety and minimise the risk impact following the incident. She also urged the public to show respect and empathy towards the victims and their families.
“I urge the public to remain calm and maintain a safe and conducive situation. Respect the legal process and leave handling to TTU Police,” Eliana said.
According to Eliana, TTU Police are committed to handling the case seriously, professionally, and transparently. Officers have also conducted a crime scene investigation and taken statements from the complainant and victims.
“The process is ongoing. We have followed up on the incident, and the victims are receiving intensive treatment at Kefamenanu Regional Hospital,” Eliana stated.
Previously reported, three men were tied with rope and dragged by locals along the road, sustaining injuries. The social media-viral assault occurred in Fafinesu B Village, Insana Fafinesu Subdistrict, TTU, NTT.
According to circulating videos, the three men were initially tied up and laid on the ground. Locals then searched their belongings.
Villagers’ shouts accused the men of theft. One man, apparently angry, threatened to burn them.
“Get gasoline to burn them. Get the bag, what’s inside,” a man said in the viral video, speaking in Dawan language, as reported by detikBali on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
The tied men were then dragged along the road, sustaining injuries to the back of the head, thighs, buttocks, and entire body. Groups of villagers chanted while dragging them.
“Pull, pull! Thieves! Stealing again at your house,” a man recording the video shouted while insulting the victims.
