Police: Baby found in Kebayoran Baru is seven days old.
Jakarta (ANTARA) — Police say that the baby found near the entrance of Tarakanita I Primary School, Jalan Barito II No. 54 RT 02/04, Kramat Pela, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (4 March) at 04:00 Western Indonesia Time, is seven days old.
From the two witnesses, including the first, it was observed that there was indeed a baby estimated to be under seven days old. said the Head of Public Relations of the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police, AKBP Murodih, to reporters in Jakarta on Thursday.
Murodih said that initially the first witness, who is a teacher, felt suspicious about a paper bag. He then asked the other witness to view the contents of the bag.
The witnesses reported to the RW chairman, who then reported to the police. Based on the report, the police attended the scene for further action.
‘It turned out indeed that a baby boy estimated to be about seven days old was found there. Then the police followed up by informing the nearest public health centre (puskesmas) there,’ he said.
After the baby was examined at the puskesmas, the baby has now been handed over to the South Jakarta Social Service Office.
To date, police are still examining the identity of the perpetrator via CCTV and it is suspected that the baby was deliberately abandoned by an irresponsible party.
‘However, looking at the scene, the baby was indeed deliberately placed there. Why? Because the baby’s necessities had already been prepared as well,’ he said.
