Jambi (ANTARA) - The Jambi Regional Police (Polda) are still awaiting the results of the investigation by the Indonesian Ministry of Health team regarding the case of the death of an intern doctor from the Faculty of Medicine at Sriwijaya University at RSUD K.H. Daud Arif, Kuala Tungkal, Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency, Jambi.

The Head of Public Relations of Polda Jambi, Police Commissioner Erlan Munaji, in Jambi on Monday, said that to date, they have not received an official report from the victim’s family or the hospital.

“However, we assure that we will continue to coordinate with relevant parties to monitor the development of the case,” he said.

The relevant agencies in this matter are the Health Service, the hospital, and the Ministry of Health.

Suspicions of excessive workload on the intern doctor have sparked attention from various quarters, including professional organisations and the public.

The Ministry of Health has deployed a team to Jambi to investigate RSUD K.H. Daud Arif for an internal audit and to examine the intern doctor assignment system at the hospital.

The team is tracing the duty schedule, workload, mentoring system, and the health condition of the deceased during the internship programme.

Police advise all parties not to speculate and to wait for the official investigation results, and also request that all parties hand over the case handling to the authorised agencies to avoid misleading information.

“We understand the family’s grief and the public’s concern. We are open if a police report is filed later, and for now, we are coordinating and awaiting the results from the Ministry of Health team,” said the Jambi Regional Police Spokesperson, Police Commissioner Erlan Munaji.
