Police Await Forensic Results to Identify Mutilated Body Found in Depok

The police have not yet confirmed the identity or gender of the mutilation victim found in a rice sack in the Pancoran Mas area of Depok, West Java. Authorities are still waiting for the results of an autopsy to determine the exact condition of the body, including the cause of death and any specific wounds.

Kasat Reskrim of the Depok Metro Police, AKBP Made Gede Oka Utama, stated that investigators are currently working with a forensic team at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital. When asked about a suspected slash wound on the victim’s neck, Made declined to provide further details. “We will be able to answer that after the autopsy process conducted with the forensic team at Kramat Jati Hospital,” Made told reporters on Tuesday (4/8/2026). He added that the autopsy results would serve as the basis for releasing complete information to the public.

Regarding the victim’s gender and estimated age, the police have yet to make an official determination. When pressed by a journalist on whether the victim was male, Made responded, “That is the suspected information,” without providing confirmation. The body was discovered after a resident, identified by the initials MR, visited a vacant lot in the Tanah Merah area, Rawageni Kavling, Pancoran Mas. The rice sack containing the remains had reportedly been at the location since around 24 July 2026. For nearly two weeks, locals assumed the sack was merely a pile of rubbish and did not suspect anything.
