Police are still waiting for a family report regarding the death of Anaesthesiology Specialist Medical Education Programme (PPDS) participant Adrian Rantung, which is suspected to be linked to bullying at RSUP Prof. Dr. RD Kandou, Manado. “For now, we are still waiting for a police report, because the family has not made an official report since the incident occurred until now,” said Manado Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Kompol Elwin Kristanto, on Tuesday (7/7). According to Elwin, his party has not taken any investigative action regarding the case until the family files an official report with the Manado Police. “So, we cannot do anything yet, and the victim’s body has already been taken to Morowali,” he said. Elwin stated that if the family eventually files an official report, the police will follow up by conducting an investigation according to procedure. “We will conduct an investigation if there is a report. However, until now we are still waiting because there has been no official report from the family,” he said. Furthermore, Elwin revealed that the family also did not request a post-mortem examination or autopsy from the hospital where the victim was found dead. “So far, the family has also not requested a post-mortem or autopsy. So we cannot take further steps yet,” he said. Adrian was suspected of experiencing bullying while serving at RSUP Prof Dr RD Kandou Manado. The victim was found lifeless after allegedly taking his own life due to severe pressure from bullying during the PPDS. The Ministry of Health has temporarily suspended PPDS activities at RSUP Kandou following this case. The Director General of Advanced Health at the Ministry of Health, Azhar Jaya, said the temporary suspension was implemented to allow a comprehensive investigation to proceed. The temporary suspension decision is stipulated in the Decree of the President Director of RSUP Prof Dr RD Kandou Manado concerning the Temporary Suspension of Learning Activities for the Anaesthesiology Study Programme. “That there is an alleged bullying incident involving one of the participants of the Anaesthesiology Specialist Medical Education Programme (PPDS),” read the consideration in the decree.
