Police are still investigating the death of ACL (30), a resident doctor in the Specialist Medical Education Programme (PPDS) in anaesthesiology at Tengku Rafian Regional Hospital in Siak. They are currently awaiting the autopsy results to determine the cause of the victim’s death.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Siak Police, AKP Raja Kosmos, said the victim’s body had been autopsied at Bhayangkara Hospital in Pekanbaru, and that they were awaiting the results.
“We are still waiting for the autopsy results to determine the cause of death, because laboratory examinations of samples taken from the victim’s body are required,” AKP Raja said in a statement on Friday (24 July 2026).
AKP Raja said that in investigating ACL’s death, Siak Police investigators were receiving special assistance from the General Crimes Directorate of Riau Regional Police.
In the investigation, police are prioritising scientific crime investigation methods in order to obtain a complete picture of the sequence of events and the cause of the victim’s death that can be accounted for legally.
“We are also conducting the investigation using techniques and tactics as regulated in the new Criminal Procedure Code and existing police standard operating procedures,” he added.
In developing the investigation, Siak Police have examined a number of witnesses, including from the hospital, hospital employees, and hospital staff.
“And we have also taken a statement from the anaesthesiology resident’s supervising consultant at Tengku Rafian Regional Hospital in Siak,” he added.
Police have also taken statements from the victim’s wife, YM (31), who is also a doctor, as well as several of the victim’s colleagues.
“Before giving her testimony, we had already gone together with the victim’s wife, parents, and elder brother to unlock the victim’s communication device, which was found at the crime scene along with the victim,” he explained.
The victim’s body was found on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, after his wife went searching for him. From Monday afternoon (13 July), the victim’s wife, YM (31), who is also a doctor, had been looking for her husband.
Hospital staff eventually checked CCTV footage around the hospital. The footage showed the victim walking away from the hospital.
The victim was found dead in bushes beside the hospital. The cause of his death remains unknown.
