The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has assured that the security and public order situation in various national economic centres is safe and under control. Preventive measures continue to be implemented to ensure the smooth running of the community’s economy. This was conveyed by the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, in response to viral images of tall fences being installed at a number of malls in Jakarta and other regions. “Polri continues to carry out routine patrols, strengthen intelligence activities, early detection, secure vital national objects, conduct cyber patrols, and coordinate with local governments, business actors, and all other stakeholders. All these steps are taken to ensure the security situation remains conducive,” Isir said in a statement on Monday (3/8/2026). He stated that anticipatory measures are being carried out by involving all regional units, from the National Police Headquarters, Regional Police, Resort Police, down to Sector Police levels. The security focus, he said, is directed at strategic areas that have a major influence on national economic stability. The National Police is also monitoring the situation in real-time through the Daily Operational Reporting System (DORS). Based on data from the system, no incidents have been found that could potentially disrupt national security. Regarding the increased security measures by business area managers, Isir assessed this as a common anticipatory step. He said it is done to ensure the safety of workers, protect assets, and maintain smooth company operations. The police therefore urged the public to remain calm and not be easily swayed by unverified information or narratives that could cause unrest. “Past experiences serve as lessons for all parties to strengthen prevention and early detection efforts,” he said. “Therefore, we ensure that any potential disturbance will be handled quickly, precisely, and professionally so that the conducive situation can be maintained,” Isir stressed. He affirmed that the state is present to guarantee a sense of security for all citizens and urged the public to continue their daily activities as usual. Jakarta Governor Pramono previously highlighted the installation of tall fences at several malls in the capital. Pramono assessed that the excessive fencing created an impression that Jakarta was unsafe.
