Polda Metro Jaya has assured that the situation and condition of DKI Jakarta remain safe and conducive, noting that the public continues to carry out their daily activities without disruption.

“We convey to all residents to remain calm, that the situation and condition of DKI Jakarta is safe and conducive,” said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, in Jakarta on Monday.

He said the safe and conducive condition can be seen from the routine activities of the public that continue to run as usual.

Polda Metro Jaya received notification letters on Thursday (27/8) from two groups planning to hold demonstrations in the DPR RI area. Each group will bring a crowd of between 100 and 200 people.

The first organisation planning to demonstrate is DPP Brigade Merah Putih Indonesia, and the second is Aliansi Tiga Pilar Demokrasi Bogor Raya, both regarding the Asset Forfeiture Bill.

“There are 16 other public activities such as music concerts, National Jamboree activities, and other community events. We are providing security services through Polda Metro Jaya and the resort police,” said Budi.

Polda Metro Jaya is still awaiting further information from the public regarding the demonstrations planned for Thursday (27/8). The police will also hold coordination meetings to ensure the demonstrations proceed in an orderly, safe, and peaceful manner, including assessing the characteristics of the area.

Regarding traffic management, Budi said it will be situational, and if the number of demonstrators arriving is deemed large, traffic diversions will be implemented.

“We prioritise the interests of the public as a whole. There are two groups of people: those who wish to express their aspirations and those carrying out their routine activities,” he said.
