Police arrests hypnotist

TANGERANG (JP): Police managed to arrest on Tuesday another suspect of a crime involving hypnotism in Curug subdistrict, eastern Tangerang.

Tangerang Police detective chief Insp. Chandra Sukma Kumara said police arrested Ely Epriyani, 34, after an officer purporting to be her accomplice Antoni, alias Anton, contacted her using a cellular phone she had stolen from Rini, 32.

Police arrested Anton, 32, on Monday following a report from the victim, who saw him near Bank BNI in Cimone.

As reported earlier, Anton met with the victim on Aug. 24. Anton asked Rini for directions to Jl. Merdeka, while passing her a piece of paper with Arabic writing.

Anton then offered the victim a small packet, saying he inherited it from his parents and it could make her stay young and accumulate wealth.

Ely, who began to lose consciousness, was convinced by Anton and immediately gave him two ATM cards, two gold rings, a Timex wrist watch, a cellular phone and cash to the value of Rp 40,000 (US$4.71) which he requested from her. (41)
