Police Arrest Viral Extortionist Who Seized Money from Car Dashboard in West Jakarta
A viral video shows an extortion incident at a traffic light near Tomang Toll Gate exit on Jalan S Parman in Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta. The suspect has been arrested by police. Grogol Petamburan Police Chief AKP Reza Aditya stated the suspect was arrested on Sunday, 24 May 2026, following a public report about the forced extortion of a pickup truck driver at the scene. The incident occurred when the victim stopped at the traffic light at the Tomang Toll Gate exit. The suspect approached the victim and demanded money. ‘After receiving Rp 10,000, the suspect continued to force the victim until taking Rp 15,000 from the car’s dashboard,’ Reza said, quoted from Grogol Petamburan Police Station’s Instagram on Monday, 25 May. The suspect fled after seizing the victim’s money. The circulating video provided crucial leads for police, leading to the suspect’s arrest shortly after the incident. ‘The suspect is currently being held at Grogol Petamburan Police Station for further investigation,’ he added.
