Police Arrest Two Teenagers for Murder of Woman Found in Container in Medan

Police have arrested two suspected murderers of a young woman found inside a container box on Jalan Menteng, Medan Denai District, Medan City, North Sumatra. The two perpetrators are still teenagers.

“They have been apprehended, yes, two perpetrators, still minors,” said Bayu Putro Wijayanto, Head of Criminal Investigation at Medan Metropolitan Police (Polrestabes Medan), when asked for confirmation on Wednesday (11 March 2026).

Bayu has not yet disclosed the identities of the two perpetrators or details of their arrest process. The middle-ranking police officer stated that his team was still developing the investigation.

“The case is still under investigation. We will confirm the victim’s identity first,” he explained.

Earlier reports indicated that residents in the Jalan Menteng area, Gang Seroja, Medan Denai District, were shocked by the discovery of a body inside a container box on Tuesday (10 March) at approximately 1.00 PM local time. Residents initially became suspicious after witnessing two men in online motorcycle taxi uniforms disposing of the container near a riverbank.

Bambang S, one of the eyewitnesses, explained that residents had initially thought the container was a discarded item that could be utilised.

“Initially, residents saw two men carrying the container whilst wearing online motorcycle taxi uniforms. At first, the residents wanted to take the container for household purposes. They thought it was rubbish, but it turned out to be a body,” said Bambang.
