Police arrest two teenagers armed with bladed weapons during patrol to prevent planned brawl

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Cilincing Police Station in North Jakarta arrested two teenagers carrying bladed weapons and a bow during a night patrol conducted as part of the Routine Increased Activity (KRYD) early Sunday morning.

‘We secured two minors armed with bladed weapons and a bow suspected for use in the planned incident,’ said Cilincing Police Chief AKP Bobi Subasri in Jakarta on Sunday.

The two teenagers were taken to Cilincing Police Station for further questioning. Police also plan to summon their parents as both are minors.

Subasri stated the patrol aimed to anticipate brawls, robberies, motorcycle thefts, and other security disturbances in Cilincing, North Jakarta.

Cilincing Police Station deployed 35 combined personnel from the police and the Community Security and Order Awareness Group (Pokdar Kamtibmas), starting with a readiness briefing at Kolong Tol RW 012, Kalibaru Village, around 1:00 AM WIB.

He stressed the importance of heightened vigilance against potential street crime, which often occurs late at night until early morning.

‘This patrol is a demonstration of police presence in the community to prevent brawls, robberies, motorcycle thefts, and other criminal acts,’ he said.

The Cilincing Police Chief added that KRYD patrols would continue regularly with the Three Pillars to maintain security stability in North Jakarta, especially during high-risk hours.

He requested all personnel to adopt a humanistic approach during operations, particularly when encountering teenagers still gathering late at night.

‘Officers are instructed to issue persuasive reminders to young people loitering to return home immediately,’ he said.

Following the briefing, officers patrolled high-risk areas including Kalibaru, Cilincing Main Road, Alteri Marunda Road, BKT Marunda Road, BKT Rorotan Road, and STIP Marunda.

Authorities also conducted spot checks at Harapan Indah Intersection, Rorotan, and STIP Marunda Intersection.

To support the patrol, three patrol cars and seven motorcycles were deployed to monitor the situation on the ground.

‘The patrol and spot checks proceeded safely and smoothly. No criminal activity or security disturbances were found at the patrol locations by the end of the operation,’ he said.
