Police Arrest Two Synthetic Tobacco Dealers in Serang, Seize 57 Ready-to-Sell Packets

The Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) of the Serang City Police has uncovered a case involving the illicit circulation of synthetic tobacco narcotics. Two individuals have been detained in connection with the case.

Head of the Narcotics Unit at Serang City Police, Police Commissioner Vhalio Agafe, said police raided a home-based production site or cottage industry for synthetic tobacco in Cigelam, Ciruas, Serang Regency, on 8 July 2026. During the operation, officers detained two suspects with the initials MF (21) and TM (19).

During the search, officers found a number of items of evidence, including 57 packets of synthetic tobacco with a gross weight of 59 grams, 2 spray bottles containing synthetic liquid with a gross volume of 10 ml, and 1 additional packet of synthetic tobacco.

In addition, officers seized 1 digital scale, 2 packs of clear plastic clips, 1 roll of tape, 1 sling bag, 1 used cigarette box, 1 plastic container, 1 plastic plate, and 2 packs of shredded tobacco (tembakau mole).

“Based on the results of the initial examination, both suspects were found to be selling synthetic tobacco at varying prices depending on the package size. Packages weighing around 0.8 grams were sold for Rp 50,000, 1.5-gram packages for Rp 100,000, while 2.5-gram packages were sold for Rp 170,000,” said Vhalio on Tuesday (14 July 2026).

The suspects have been charged under Article 114 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 111 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 of the Republic of Indonesia on Narcotics. Both suspects and all items of evidence have been secured at the Serang City Police Narcotics Unit to undergo further investigation.

“The public is also urged to play an active role in providing information to the police if they become aware of any activities related to narcotics abuse or circulation in their surroundings,” he said.
