Police arrest two stabbing suspects in Pasar Rebo
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The police have captured two perpetrators of a stabbing against a teenager identified as FK (18) on Jalan Telaga, Pekayon, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta.
“In less than 24 hours, the two perpetrators were captured in the Depok area, West Java. The two perpetrators are NE (18) and DS (18),” said Pasar Rebo Police Chief AKP I Wayan Wijaya at a press conference at Pasar Rebo Police Station, East Jakarta, on Friday.
The case disclosure began from a hospital report related to the victim’s stabbing with the machete still lodged in the head, on Tuesday (19/5).
Thereafter, the police carried out intensive investigations. After the perpetrators’ identities were known, officers immediately arrested at the suspects’ homes.
“They were secured at their homes in Depok as viral online,” said Wayan.
The case of aggravated assault affected FK (18), a resident of Cijantung, East Jakarta. The victim was slashed with a machete resulting in serious head injuries.
As a result of the blows, the victim had to undergo surgery at the Police Hospital in Kramat Jati. The police also confiscated several pieces of evidence, including one machete blade used by the perpetrators, a black sweater, trousers, and the victim’s injury report.
For their actions, the two suspects are charged under Article 466 KUHP on aggravated assault with a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment.
Wayan also urged the public to contact the emergency service 110 if police assistance is required.
“The 110 service is free and toll-free. We will follow up on every public report,” said Wayan.
The terrifying incident occurred on Tuesday (19/5) around 04:30 WIB when the victim and several friends had just finished gathering at a coffee shop in the area.
As they were about to go home, FK and his friends walked toward the motorbike parking area. However, the situation suddenly turned grim when a group of youths arrived armed with sharp weapons.
Without much discussion, the group suspected to be a motorcycle gang launched a merciless attack on FK and his friends. Not prepared for the sudden attack, the victim and his friends chose to flee to save themselves.
FK, while attempting to flee, was struck by a sharp weapon of the machete from the right. The sharp weapon even lodged into the victim’s head, causing him to collapse, bleeding at the scene.
