Police have arrested two suspects involved in motorcycle theft (curanmor) in Galur, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta. They stole a motorcycle parked in an alley with the steering lock engaged.

The incident occurred around 4:30 AM on May 15, 2026, on Jalan Rawa Tengah, Galur, Johar Baru. The victim, identified as EK, lost a Honda Genio with registration plate B-3026-PIJ.

“Motorcycle was parked near the house with the steering lock engaged, but by morning the vehicle was missing,” said Senior Commissioner Reynold Hutagalung, Jakarta Central Police Chief, in a statement on Sunday (May 31).

Following an investigation and CCTV review, police identified the suspects. The Johar Baru Police Station’s Criminal Investigation Unit arrested suspect JJ in Pisangan Baru, Matraman, East Jakarta.

Further investigation led to the arrest of another suspect, AZ, in Paseban, Senen, Central Jakarta.

“According to interrogations, one suspect sold the stolen motorcycle via a Facebook account for Rp 2.5 million, with proceeds divided among the perpetrators based on their roles,” he added.

Police seized an L-shaped key suspected to have been used in the theft. The two suspects face charges under Article 477(1)(c) of the Criminal Code for aggravated theft.

Authorities are still searching for two other suspects, identified as M and R. Senior Commissioner Hutagalung urged residents to remain vigilant when parking vehicles and use additional security measures to prevent theft.

“We advise the public to use additional vehicle security and report any criminal activity immediately via the police hotline 110,” he concluded.
