Police Arrest Two Men Carrying Unauthorised Controlled Drugs in Tamansari
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Police have arrested two men, identified by the initials DDK and M, after they were found carrying unauthorised ‘List G’ controlled medicines in the Tamansari area, West Jakarta.
The two individuals were detained during an inspection of a Daihatsu Xenia vehicle on Jalan Gajah Mada, specifically in front of the Glodok Sub-sector Police Station, Tamansari, West Jakarta, in the early hours of Wednesday (2/9).
“From the results of the inspection and search, police found controlled medicines listed under ‘List G’ that are suspected of not having distribution permits,” said Tamansari Metro Police Chief, Kompol Bobby M Zulfikar, when confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.
He explained that the discovery occurred while Tamansary Metro Police personnel were conducting a stationary raid to anticipate street crime in the Tamansari region. During the operation on Jalan Gajah Mada, officers spotted a vehicle driven by one of the suspects with a passenger.
“Officers then stopped the vehicle and conducted an inspection and search,” said Bobby.
From the search, police discovered 15 pills suspected to be Hexymer and three Tramadol pills, with one pill found near the vehicle. In addition to the drugs, officers also seized two mobile phones and the Daihatsu Xenia used by the two men.
“Based on the initial investigation, DDK admitted to obtaining two Tramadol pills from an individual with the initials G, who is currently on the wanted list (DPO),” Bobby noted.
Meanwhile, M admitted to purchasing Hexymer and Tramadol for Rp50,000 from an individual with the initials A, who is also being hunted by the police.
“Both admitted to having previously consumed one Tramadol pill each,” Bobby revealed.
Police are continuing their investigation to uncover the parties supplying these drugs. The two identified suppliers, G and A, remain at large.
Bobby also urged the public, particularly teenagers, not to consume medicines without a prescription or medical supervision. He emphasised that the improper use of drugs can endanger health and potentially lead to legal issues.
“Do not be easily tempted or buy medicines from unclear sources. If you need medicine, use it according to prescriptions and medical regulations,” Bobby stated.
