Police Arrest Two Drug Users During Eid al-Adha Eve Patrol
North Jakarta Metropolitan Police arrested two men suspected of using methamphetamine during a heightened routine patrol (KRYD) at various high-risk crime locations on Eid al-Adha Eve, Tuesday, 26 May.
“Two drug users were found during stationary patrols in North Jakarta,” said North Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief Kombes Pol Erick Frendriz in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Erick said the two men were caught using drugs by officers patrolling in Tanjung Priok and Kelapa Gading.
“Both individuals are undergoing further investigation,” he said.
He stated the patrols were conducted to maintain public safety and order during the Eid al-Adha takbir night of 1447 H/2026 M.
“The patrols aim to prevent brawls, street racing, street crimes, dangerous firecracker use, and other public order disturbances,” he added.
Officers also conducted vehicle and suspicious person checks to prevent the circulation of bladed weapons, alcohol, and other hazardous materials.
In addition to patrols, officers visited several monitoring posts and neighbourhood security posts (Poskamling) to engage directly with residents.
Officers conveyed public safety messages and urged residents to enhance community vigilance and reactivate the neighbourhood security system (siskamling).
“We urge the public to immediately contact the Police Call Center at 110 if they spot suspicious activities or potential threats to public order,” he said.
