Police arrest two drug dealers

JAKARTA (JP): The city narcotics squad arrested two suspected drug dealers on Sunday.

Fifty-four Ecstasy pills and a few grams of dried marijuana were also seized.

The City police spokesman Lt. Col. Iman Haryatna said yesterday the men were arrested in a rented house in the Poris Mas residential complex on Jl. Hayam Wuruk, West Jakarta.

The first suspect, identified as Perdana Halim, 28, is a resident of Semarang, Central Java. The second, Iman Cahyadi alias Alung, 29, is from Medan, South Sumatra.

"We have been watching them for a week," Iman said.

He said that if found guilty, the suspects face a maximum of 15 years in jail and a maximum fine of Rp 300 million.

On Friday, police arrested a woman at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport for possession of nearly 9,000 Ecstasy pills worth Rp 1.8 billion (US$800,000). (04)
