Two motorcycle theft specialists who carried a firearm during their crimes have been arrested by Tangerang City Metro Police in Cipondoh, Tangerang City, Banten. The two suspects have the initials AS (25) and AGS (33). A third individual, identified as a fence with the initial S, managed to escape and has been placed on the wanted list.

Acting Tangerang City Police Chief Senior Commissioner Eko Bagus Riyadi said the arrests began with a report from a resident who lost a Honda Vario motorcycle on Jalan Maulana Hasanudin, Cipondoh, Tangerang City, on 7 July 2026. Following an investigation, officers managed to identify the suspects.

From the suspects, officers seized a number of items of evidence, including a homemade firearm and five rounds of FN ammunition, a T-key, T-key bits, a magnetic key, an L-key, several mobile phones, motorcycle keys, and a black Honda Vario which turned out to be stolen from the Cipondoh area. The firearm is believed to have been carried by the suspects during their operations.

Preliminary examination results indicate that the suspects admitted to selling the stolen goods to S. However, when S was about to be arrested, he managed to flee and is still being pursued by officers. According to the suspects’ confession, they had carried out four thefts in the Cipondoh and Ciledug areas of Tangerang City.

Officers are still investigating the possibility of other crime scenes and a network of fences who received the stolen motorcycles. The suspects are being held at Tangerang City Metro Police and charged under Article 306 of the Criminal Code and Article 477 of the Criminal Code concerning motorcycle theft, with a maximum prison sentence of 15 years.
