A joint team from the Central Kalimantan Regional Police has arrested two more men, identified by the initials Y and L, suspected of involvement in an attack on Katingan Police personnel. The arrests were made in Katingan Regency on Wednesday morning, following the bloody incident during a narcotics operation in Tumbang Kalemei Village. Katingan Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Dodik Hartono confirmed that both suspects are currently undergoing intensive questioning. “Both are still being questioned to determine their respective roles in the incident that resulted in the deaths of three police officers,” Dodik said in Palangka Raya. To date, a total of five suspects have been detained. Police had previously arrested three other individuals with the initials Saldy, Robi, and N. The joint team is continuing to pursue several other people believed to have been involved in the attack. The tragic incident began when personnel from the Katingan Police Narcotics Unit conducted an operation targeting a drug recidivist with the initials BIO. The operation met fierce resistance from the perpetrator’s family and several residents, who used sharp weapons and homemade firearms. Although officers fired warning shots, the mob attack continued, leading to an uncontrollable situation. During the rescue and evacuation effort, nine officers were saved, but three police personnel died in the line of duty. Police have stressed that the investigation will continue until all parties involved are apprehended, and that legal proceedings will be carried out in accordance with applicable regulations.
