Police arrest thugs, ticket scalpers

JAKARTA: In response to public complaints, West Jakarta officials and police have arrested 18 thugs and ticket scalpers in the Kalideres bus terminal.

Head of the bus terminal, Jonny Batara, told visiting West Jakarta mayor Fadjar Panjaitan on Friday that the thugs and scalpers were still being questioned at Kalideres Police station.

The West Jakarta municipality administration formed a joint team comprising Kalideres Police officers and the transportation agency to closely monitor the bus terminal during the Idul Fitri holiday.

"We have installed a number of circuit cameras to monitor activities in the terminal, to make sure that people can return to their hometowns for the holiday without being annoyed by thugs or ticket scalpers," he said. -- JP
