Sragen police have detained three teenagers suspected of creating social media content using Pocong figures, which were deemed disturbing to the public.

Head of Public Relations for Central Java Regional Police, Police Commissioner Artanto, said the teenagers were apprehended at a railway tunnel near Pasar Bundry Sragen by Sragen police’s intelligence unit.

“Officers were conducting patrols and monitoring social media activity,” he stated in Semarang on Thursday (28 May).

According to him, the teenagers created content on “fake Pocong” broadcast live on social media.

He added that during their activities, the teenagers recorded videos at various locations, including Taruna Stadium and Sasono LangenPutro Square.

The three detained teenagers, RA (17), RG (17), and JS (17), each took roles in wearing Pocong costumes or recording the videos.

The investigation found no other criminal motives.

The police continue to conduct cyber patrols and provide guidance to prevent similar incidents.

“Digital spaces must be used positively, creatively, and responsibly,” he emphasised.
