A joint team from the North Jakarta Metro Police’s General Criminal Investigation unit, the Mobile Investigation unit, and the Koja Sector Police have uncovered a case of alleged assault and brawl between youth groups in Koja, North Jakarta. Three perpetrators have been arrested.

The brawl occurred in the UKA Complex, Tugu Utara Village, Koja District, North Jakarta, in the early hours of Saturday, July 18, 2026. The incident began with a challenge to fight that was circulated via social media platform Instagram.

Koja Police Chief Commissioner Andry Suharto stated that the challenge was answered by one of the groups, who gathered their members at a food stall before heading to the agreed location. Both groups are suspected of having prepared sharp weapons before the clash broke out around 3 a.m. local time. The victim was allegedly attacked and assaulted with sharp weapons by several perpetrators before they fled the scene.

During the investigation, police identified three suspects, identified as AN, 18, AA, 19, and AH, 17. A fourth suspect, with the initials FA, has been placed on the wanted list and remains at large. The victim, a 16-year-old identified as A, sustained injuries after allegedly being assaulted with sharp weapons during the clash near the UKA Complex volleyball court.

The three suspects were taken into custody on Saturday evening. Police seized several pieces of evidence, including sharp weapons, a motorcycle, clothing believed to have been worn during the incident, and other items related to the case. Commissioner Andry emphasised that investigators are continuing to develop the case, including pursuing the remaining fugitive. He warned that police will take firm action against any acts of violence or brawling that disturb the community and urged parents to increase supervision of their children’s activities, particularly at night and in the early hours, to prevent involvement in criminal acts. Investigators are currently examining witnesses, completing case files, and probing the roles of each party involved. The public is also advised not to be easily provoked by calls to brawl, whether directly or through social media, as such actions can lead to criminal offences that endanger lives.
