Police Arrest Three Suspects in Deadly Clash in Menteng

Police have revealed that three perpetrators have been detained in connection with a deadly clash on Jalan Tambak, Menteng, Central Jakarta. The three are currently being held at the Menteng Police Station. “In terms of law enforcement, we have detained three residents involved in committing the assault, namely Mr S, Mr T, and Mr U, who are now secured at Menteng Police Station,” said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Senior Commissioner Reynold Hutagalung at the scene on Sunday (26/7/2026). Reynold explained that police are examining around 15 people in this case, some of whom are being questioned as witnesses. “For the overall incident, we are conducting intensive security examinations on approximately 15 people,” he clarified. He added that there are multiple crime scenes in this case, so the investigations are being separated. The first crime scene where the clash was triggered is on Jalan Matraman Dalam, followed by the second crime scene on Jalan Tambak where the victim died. “Regarding the incidents in Matraman, Matraman Dalam, and the incident on Jalan Tambak, we are separating them. Those who are victims or reasonably suspected as perpetrators must naturally be held accountable for their actions,” he said. Reynold further stated that police received a report around 10:00 WIB about the clash in Menteng. According to him, when the report was filed, stone-throwing was already underway at Matraman Dalam, which then spread to Jalan Tambak. “This caused local residents to react spontaneously because they felt disturbed, leading to stone-throwing which resulted in two people at this location having to be evacuated by police to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital,” he stated. “One with the initial K, and the other DS. We also extend our condolences as, according to the information available, Mr K, aged 23, has passed away,” he added.
