Police Arrest Three Suspects in Deadly Clash in Menteng

Police have revealed that three suspects have been detained following a fatal clash on Jalan Tambak, Menteng, Central Jakarta. All three are currently being held at the Menteng Police Station.

“And in terms of law enforcement, we have detained three residents involved in carrying out the assault, namely S, T and U, who are now in custody at the Menteng Police Station,” said Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief Kombes Reynold Hutagalung at the scene on Sunday (26/7/2026).

Reynold explained that police were questioning around 15 people in connection with the case. Several of them were being questioned as witnesses.

“For the incident as a whole, we are carrying out intensive questioning of approximately 15 people,” he said.

He added that there were several crime scenes (TKP) in this case, so the investigations were being handled separately. At the first crime scene, the clash was triggered on Jalan Matraman Dalam, while the second was on Jalan Tambak, where the victim died.

“So the incident in Matraman, Matraman Dalam, and the incident on Jalan Tambak are being dealt with separately. Whoever the victims are, and whoever is suspected of being a perpetrator, they will certainly have to answer for their actions,” he said.

Reynold went on to say that police received a report at around 10.00 WIB about the clash in Menteng. According to him, when the report came in, stone-throwing was already under way at Matraman Dalam, spreading to Jalan Tambak.

“This prompted residents to react spontaneously, feeling that their neighbourhood had been disturbed, resulting in stone-throwing that forced two people at the location to be evacuated by police to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital,” he said.

“They have the initials K and DS. We also express our condolences — based on the information available, K, aged 23, has passed away,” he added.
