Police arrest three suspects for misuse of subsidised fuel in Malang City
Malang, East Java (ANTARA) - Malang City Resort Police arrested three suspects for the misuse of subsidised fuel oil (BBM) type Pertalite at a petrol station on Jalan Julius Usman, Malang City, East Java. The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Malang City Resort Police, AKP Rahmad Aji Prabowo, in Malang on Tuesday, stated that the three suspects are ABS (29), a resident of Wagir, Malang Regency; A (42), a resident of Kedungkandang, Malang City; and RCYP, a resident of Muharto, Malang City. “The misuse of subsidised BBM involves two police reports, namely the first report with suspects ABS and A, and the second report with suspect RCYP. The arrests were made on Thursday (16/4) by securing one car and one motorcycle,” said Aji. The actions were assisted by suspect A, who is a petrol station employee, in exchange for Rp5,000 per jerry can. “The individuals were secured at the scene during the fuel filling. At that time, officers found 19 jerry cans that had been filled,” he said. Meanwhile, suspect RCYP purchased subsidised BBM using a motorcycle at the same petrol station. The purchased BBM was then transferred to two 35-litre jerry cans using a rubber hose. “These actions were carried out repeatedly, and the BBM was then resold retail,” said Aji. Suspects ABS and RCYP face a maximum prison sentence of six years and/or a fine of category V. Meanwhile, suspect A faces a maximum sentence of two-thirds of the principal penalty for his role in assisting.
