Police arrest three motorcycle gang members who slashed two men in Tangerang
Jakarta - The Jatiuwung Police Station and Tangerang City Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit have arrested three members of a motorcycle gang who brutally slashed two young men at the Taman Cibodas Flyover in Jatiuwung, Tangerang City.
Tangerang City Metro Police Chief Commissioner Dr. Raden Muhammad Jauhari stated that the three suspects, identified as MH, DP, and GR, were arrested at different locations early on Friday (22 May).
“We will not tolerate street violence or motorcycle gangs that disturb the public. All involved perpetrators will be dealt with strictly according to the law,” Jauhari said.
He explained that the incident occurred on Wednesday (13 May) at around 1:00 AM WIB when the victims, SH and DR, were riding a motorcycle from Jakarta to Tangerang. Upon arriving in Cimone, the victims exchanged glances and confronted the suspects on the road. Despite attempting to evade, the suspects chased them to the Taman Cibodas Flyover.
“Based on investigations, the attack was triggered by a minor dispute. One suspect claimed to have been offended by being stared at by the victims. The suspects then pursued, blocked the victims’ vehicle, and collectively slashed them,” Jauhari said.
In addition to assaulting the victims, the suspects attempted to steal their motorbike keys and mobile phones but failed due to resistance.
Following the report, police swiftly processed the crime scene and reviewed CCTV footage along the suspects’ escape route. Through intensive investigations, officers identified the suspects as originating from Pasar Kemis to Serang areas.
“In addition to arresting three suspects, we seized evidence including a Yamaha Vixion motorcycle, a celurit (traditional sickle), helmet, clothing worn during the incident, and mobile phones,” Jauhari said.
Police are currently continuing their investigation to apprehend other suspects involved in the street crime, including the mastermind behind the brutal attack.
Jauhari urged the public, especially parents, to increase supervision of their children’s activities to prevent them from engaging in criminal behaviour or joining dangerous motorcycle gangs.
