Police Arrest Suspect in Suitcase Murder at Abandoned House in Brebes
Residents of Brebes, Central Java, were shocked by the discovery of a body inside a suitcase at an abandoned house in Sukareja Village, Banjarharjo District. Police have arrested the suspected killer.
As reported on Tuesday (17/2/2026), the victim found in the suitcase was identified as Sapri (70), a resident of Sukareja Village, Banjarharjo. The elderly man was killed by Rokib (45) at an abandoned house.
The Mobile Crime Unit (Resmob) of the Brebes Police Resort Criminal Investigation Division successfully tracked down Rokib and arrested him. Brebes Police Chief AKBP Lilik Ardhiansyah stated that the suspect was apprehended in Majalengka Regency, West Java, in the early hours of the morning.
“We managed to solve this murder case in less than 24 hours. In the early hours this morning, the Mobile Crime Unit successfully arrested the suspect based on evidence gathered in the field. We apprehended suspect R in the Majalengka area, West Java,” the Brebes Police Chief told reporters at his office on Tuesday afternoon.
In this case, he continued, the victim was killed by being struck with a stone. The suspect hit the victim multiple times on the head, chest and back of the neck until the victim died.
As a result of his actions, the suspect has been charged under Article 479 of the Criminal Code, carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment. “The charge is Article 479 of the Criminal Code with a sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment. We are applying the new Criminal Code,” he concluded.
