Polda Metro Jaya has arrested a suspect in the murder of a 20-year-old woman whose body was found in a hotel in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Friday (29 May).
“Correct, the suspect has been detained; the victim was found by hotel staff lying on the floor with blood present,” said Polda Metro Jaya’s Chief of Public Relations, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.
However, Budi did not provide detailed information about the suspect’s initials or motive, only stating that the victim is currently at Kramat Jati Police Hospital.
Meanwhile, AKP Joko Adi, the Head of Public Relations for South Jakarta Metro Police Resort, said the victim was discovered at 12.30pm WIB on Friday.
“The victim was a hotel guest who checked in alone on Tuesday (26 May),” he said.
Upon discovery, there were signs of violence on the victim’s head. Police have processed the crime scene and are reviewing surveillance footage.
“Hotel staff attempted to confirm payment by knocking on the room door, but received no response. They then used the hotel key to open the door and discovered the incident,” Joko added.
