Police Arrest Suspect in SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Bomb Threat, Motive Still Under Investigation

Jakarta (Republika) – Police have arrested a suspected perpetrator behind a bomb threat at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Monday (13/7/2026). The suspect, identified by the initials MY (34), is currently undergoing questioning at the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters.

Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that officers had detained one individual in connection with the threat that occurred at the school. The suspect is a man who resides in the vicinity of the school.

“For the perpetrator, one person with the initials MY, whose address is around the scene of the incident, the school, has been secured,” he said at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters on Monday afternoon.

According to him, the police are still investigating the suspect’s motive for carrying out the threat. The suspect is currently continuing to undergo questioning at the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police.

“He is currently at the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police, still being investigated by officers regarding his motive and purpose,” Budi said.

Budi also urged the public to be more prudent when sending messages, especially those that could cause fear within the educational community.
