Police Arrest Suspect in Murder of Primary School Student in Makassar

Police have arrested a man suspected of murdering a Year 6 primary school student whose body was discovered in a pile of rubbish in an abandoned house in Tallo District, Makassar, South Sulawesi. ‘I am relieved he is now at Polrestabes Makassar,’ said Tallo Police Chief AKP Asfada on Wednesday (27 May). The 11-year-old victim was found dead in an empty house covered in rubbish at around 5:00 AM WITA on Wednesday. Her family had been searching for her since Tuesday (26 May) around 10:00 PM WITA. The body was found lying on its back with several cuts on the left arm and bleeding from the genital area. ‘The victim was found inside the toilet of an unoccupied house,’ he added. Currently, the INAFIS team and the South Sulawesi Police Forensic Department are examining the victim’s body, Asfada said. ‘The cause of death is still being investigated by the South Sulawesi Police Forensic Department. We are waiting for the autopsy results,’ he explained.
