Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Stabbing of Ride-Hailing Driver in Tangerang

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal stabbing of an online motorcycle taxi driver, Agus Tedjo, who was attacked while resting in the Villa Taman Bandara area, Dadap, Kosambi District, Tangerang Regency, Banten. The suspect, identified by the initials RD alias D, aged 25, was apprehended at a rented property on Jalan Bunderan Kamal, Kamal Muara, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, in the early hours of Tuesday.

Kombes Budi Hermanto, Head of Public Relations for the Metro Jaya Regional Police, confirmed the arrest. “It is true that the Joint Team from Sub-Directorate III of the Metro Jaya Police General Criminal Investigation Directorate has arrested a man with the initials RD alias D,” he told reporters on Tuesday.

Hermanto stated that the suspect has been named a suspect in the murder case, which also involved the violent theft of the victim’s vehicle. “He has been named a suspect in the alleged murder of the online motorcycle taxi driver, initials ATP, accompanied by theft with violence resulting in the victim’s death, where the perpetrator took the victim’s motorcycle,” he added.

The incident occurred on Sunday when the victim was discovered covered in blood with a stab wound to his neck at a location commonly used by ride-hailing drivers to gather and rest. Despite being found alive, the victim succumbed to his injuries. The suspect is believed to have stolen the victim’s motorcycle and mobile phone before fleeing towards West Jakarta.
