Police arrest suspect in fatal stabbing in Kemayoran
Police have arrested a suspect, identified by the initials TA, in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 35-year-old man, AJS, in the Utan Panjang area of Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, in the early hours of Monday. “The suspect, TA, has been arrested with evidence including a knife,” said Kemayoran Police Chief Kompol Agung Ardiansyah in a statement in Jakarta on Monday. Agung explained that the motive behind the severe assault was allegedly a grudge between the suspect and the victim, who knew each other and were neighbours. The incident occurred around 1:05 a.m. WIB on Jalan Utan Panjang 3, RT 17/RW 06, Utan Panjang Village, Kemayoran District, Central Jakarta. According to witness accounts at the scene, the incident began when the victim was walking while carrying his child. At the same time, the suspect TA was already waiting, armed with a kitchen knife. Sensing danger, the victim immediately put down the child he was carrying. The suspect TA then blindly stabbed the victim twice, striking the abdomen and the left side of the chest. “After committing the act, the suspect immediately fled the crime scene,” Agung said. The victim was rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment, but his life could not be saved. “The victim died en route to the hospital from two stab wounds,” Agung stated. Police are continuing an in-depth investigation to uncover any possible element of premeditation in the killing. Investigators are also examining and taking official statements from several witnesses who were at the location during the incident.
