Police Arrest Suspect in Depok Mutilation Case

Saepul (26), the perpetrator of the murder and mutilation of a man named Kunaefi (51) in Cipayung, Depok City, West Java, has been arrested by police. The suspect was apprehended by the Sub-directorate of Mobile Investigation of the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police in the Panimbang area, Pandeglang, Banten.

According to a photo obtained by detikcom, Saepul was seen wearing a black shirt at the time of his arrest, with a gaunt expression and short hair. The two men met at a rented house in Cipayung after initially connecting through social media.

Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, explained that the meeting escalated into an argument. The suspect then stabbed the victim in the stomach and slashed his neck with a knife. After confirming the victim was dead, Saepul attempted to cover his tracks by mutilating the body, severing it at the base of the thighs. He wrapped the torso and legs separately in black plastic and sacks. The torso was dumped in the Tanah Merah area, while the legs were thrown into a river in Pitara, Pancoran Mas. The suspect then fled on the victim’s motorcycle, which he later sold in the Panimbang area of Pandeglang, Banten.

The case was uncovered when residents attempted to burn what they thought was a rubbish sack on Tuesday (4/8), only to discover a human torso inside. The sack had actually been found on Friday (24/7). The body was found unclothed, with a slash wound to the neck, hands tied, and both legs severed.
