The police have arrested a man with the initials SA suspected of committing murder in connection with the discovery of a body in a sack in Tanah Merah, Kavling Depkes, Pancoran Mas sub-district, Depok City. Unit 1 Head of the Resmob Sub-directorate at the Metro Jaya Regional Police’s General Criminal Investigation Directorate, Kompol Dimitri Mahendra Kartika, stated that the arrest was carried out by the Metro Jaya Police Resmob Sub-directorate team. “The perpetrator was arrested by the Metro Jaya Police Resmob Sub-directorate Team on Wednesday, 5 August 2026, at 04.15 WIB, in Pandeglang, Banten, while fleeing,” Dimitri said when confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday. As of now, investigators are still looking into SA’s relationship with the victim, whose remains were found inside a sack in the Depok area on Tuesday (4/8). “It is still under investigation,” he said. His party has also not been able to confirm the whereabouts of the victim’s missing body parts. “We will provide further information later,” Dimitri explained. “When found, the condition of the body had its hands tied and was wrapped in a sack and black plastic,” said Metro Depok Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Made Gede Oka Utama in Jakarta on Tuesday (4/8). According to him, upon the discovery of the body, only the head, torso and both hands were present, while both legs from the thighs down were missing. Made revealed that officers also found slash wounds on the neck and no identification was found on the victim, leading to the suspicion that the victim had been mutilated. His party will provide an official statement after the autopsy process, conducted with a team of forensic doctors at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, is complete. “For that reason, we will announce the victim’s identity once we have confirmation,” Made stated.
