Police Arrest Man for Assaulting Petrol Station Staff in East Jakarta

Police have arrested a man who allegedly assaulted three petrol station employees in Cipinang, Pulogadung, East Jakarta.

“Yes, the information has been confirmed; the suspect has been apprehended,” said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police, AKBP Dicky Fertoffan, to reporters on Tuesday (24 February).

However, Dicky has not yet revealed the identity of the suspect. He also has not clarified whether the suspect is a law enforcement officer or a civilian.

Previously, three petrol station employees in Cipinang, Pulogadung, East Jakarta, were allegedly victims of an assault by a law enforcement officer on Sunday (22 February) at around 10:00 PM.

According to Antara, the three victims are Ahmad Khoirul Anam, who has worked as a staff member for about five years, Lukmanul Hakim, an operator who has been working for six months after graduating from vocational high school, and Abud Mahmudin, an operator with approximately four years of service.

Khoirul Anam was slapped on the cheek, Lukman was punched in the right jaw, while Abud was punched under the eye and on the cheek near his mouth, causing him to lose a tooth.

The incident began when a customer came to fill up with Pertalite fuel. When the barcode was scanned, the vehicle’s registration number was registered in the system, but the type of car did not match the data displayed.

According to standard operating procedures (SOP), the staff then refused to fill the Pertalite and offered an alternative solution. The customer was directed to fill up with Pertamax, which does not use a barcode system.

However, this refusal allegedly triggered the customer’s anger. An incident occurred, leading to the alleged act of violence against the three petrol station employees.

One of the victims, Lukmanul Hakim, stated that the officer claimed that the car he was driving belonged to a general.

“He said, ‘Do you know that this barcode belongs to a general? Do you know that this is a general’s barcode?’ He said it several times,” he said.
