Police Arrest Student Who Fatally Struck Older Brother in North Jakarta
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The North Jakarta Metropolitan Police has arrested a student, identified only by the initials MAH (16), who is suspected of fatally striking his own older brother on the head with a hammer in the Kelapa Gading area on Tuesday afternoon (24 February).
“We are still conducting an investigation and delving into the actual motive behind the perpetrator’s actions, which led him to commit such a heinous act against his older brother, identified by the initials MAR (22),” said the Head of the Women and Children Services Unit (PPA) at the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Ni Luh Sri Arsini, in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Officers suspect that the case revolves around family issues. The perpetrator is believed to have felt envious of the victim because he often received attention from their parents.
“The mother runs a business outside the home, and the father lives separately from them,” she said.
According to Sri, before carrying out the tragic act, the perpetrator had harboured resentment in his heart, which eventually led to the heinous act.
The victim is currently undergoing an autopsy at a hospital to determine the cause of death.
“The victim is still undergoing an autopsy, and the results have not yet been released,” she said.
