Police have arrested a ride-hailing driver identified as JF (57) for damaging a vehicle on the JORR Toll Road in Pondok Pinang, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. The suspect was apprehended in Ciputat.

“The suspect was detained by the Opsnal Unit 1 Resmob Team of Polda Metro Jaya at his residence in Ciputat, South Tangerang, without resistance,” said Sub-Director of Tahbang/Resmob Polda Metro Jaya AKBP Resa Fiardi Marasabessy, according to Antara, Sunday, 31 May 2026.

The case began with cyber patrols that discovered a viral video of an aggressive driver’s actions against another vehicle. Following the incident, the victim filed a report at Kebayoran Lama Police Station.

“After investigation, the victim, Peter Atindra Akbar, had officially filed a police report at Kebayoran Lama Police Station on Friday, 29 May,” he said.

Opsnal Unit 1 Resmob, led by AKBP Resa Fiardi Marasabessy and Kanit 1 Kompol Dimitri Mahendra Kartika, immediately conducted an investigation and IT analysis to profile the suspect’s whereabouts.

“Based on IT analysis, the team successfully identified the suspect’s profile and arrested him at his home on Cimandiri Raya Street, Cipayung, Ciputat, at around 15:30 WIB on Friday, 29 May,” he added.

He explained that the vandalism occurred on Tuesday, 26 May at approximately 19:22 WIB. At the time, the victim was driving a minibus on the JORR Toll Road after entering through the Pondok Pinang Toll Gate.

Simultaneously, the suspect, driving a Daihatsu Sigra with licence plate B-1557-WIM, attempted to overtake the victim’s vehicle from the left lane. Due to the narrow lane, the suspect’s car scraped the left side of the victim’s vehicle.

The suspect then forced a pass on the right and deliberately rammed his vehicle into the right side of the victim’s car before cutting in front and stopping in front of it.

“The suspect then got out of his car and immediately punched the victim’s right-side mirror with his bare hand. Unsatisfied, he returned to his vehicle to retrieve a wheel nut key, then struck the mirror and right-side body of the victim’s car three times until the mirror broke,” said Resa.

The victim briefly exited his vehicle to secure the broken mirror and record the suspect’s face and licence plate number before the suspect fled the scene.

Police seized several pieces of evidence, including a green short-sleeved shirt with ‘Gocar’ printed on it, a black jacket, blue trousers, a smartphone, and video footage from the incident.

Suspect JF and the evidence have been taken to Polda Metro Jaya for further questioning. He faces charges under Article 521 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) of Law No. 1 of 2023 on Criminal Acts of Vandalism.
