Police arrest 'retired' thieves

JAKARTA: The Jakarta Police arrested three suspects at their
homes on Wednesday night in connection with 17 robberies in
Jakarta, Bogor and Banten dating back to 1996.

Munardin, 34, Basuki, 36, and Iskandar, 42, were allegedly the
leaders of a robbery gang calling itself Group 13. "The name
comes from the number of members in the gang," city police
spokesman Sr. Comr. Tjiptono on Thursday.

The three suspects had actually given up their lives of crime
several years ago but the police still had them on their wanted
list. "We are still hunting for other members of the gang who
remain active," Tjiptono added. -- JP
