Police Arrest Repeat Offender Specialising in Motorcycle Snatching on the Serang-Jakarta Highway

The Serang Police’s Mobile Investigation Team (Resmob) has apprehended Romli, alias Doyok (49), a repeat offender who has repeatedly committed snatching crimes on the Serang-Jakarta highway. Doyok is a repeat offender whose actions have caused his victims to fall from their motorcycles.

Serang Police Chief AKBP Andri Kurniawan said that Doyok’s latest action occurred on Sunday (15/2/2026) on the Serang-Jakarta highway, Ciruas, Serang Regency. At that time, Doyok snatched a bag from a married couple riding a scooter.

“The victim was approached by the perpetrator who was riding a motorcycle. When they were side by side, the perpetrator immediately pulled a brown shoulder bag worn by the victim until the strap broke. The victim fell, and then the perpetrator fled,” said Andri, Wednesday (25/2).

As a result of the incident, the victim suffered losses of around Rp 7 million. In the bag, there was cash and two mobile phones belonging to the victim. After the incident, the victim immediately reported the incident to the Ciruas Police for follow-up.

In response to the report, the Serang Police’s Resmob Team, led by Ipda Athallah Thoriq and Bripka Sutrisno, carried out a series of investigations and information gathering in the field.

“Based on the results of the investigation and information from the public, we have identified the perpetrator. The team then moved quickly and managed to secure the perpetrator while he was sleeping at his house,” said Andri.

The perpetrator was arrested on Tuesday (24/2) at his home in Kragilan, Serang Regency. Police confiscated a number of pieces of evidence in the form of a knife, a machete, and a Honda CB motorcycle which is suspected of being used by the perpetrator to carry out his actions.

“The sharp weapon was kept by the perpetrator to be on the lookout in case his actions were known by the victim,” said Andri.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Serang Police, AKP Andri Kurniady ES, said that the perpetrator had committed snatching crimes eight times on the Serang-Jakarta highway since November 2025. “The perpetrator is a specialist in snatching and has repeatedly committed crimes,” he said.

According to Andri, Doyok is a repeat offender in snatching cases. He had previously been imprisoned twice for the same case.

“He is a repeat offender in snatching cases. His crime scene is also the same, namely the Serang-Jakarta highway. But before, he was with someone, now he is alone,” he said.
